El Yunque Rainforest is composed of mountains that face the trade winds, which bring moisture from the ocean, resulting in precipitation over a diverse ecosystem that is considered one of the most diverse and studied in the world. You will experience the magic of this tropical paradise where you will find over 150 species of ferns and 240 species of trees. Learn about the flora, fauna and history of the place from our knowledgeable guides.
With PRTD, you will feel like a local, not a tourist. We will hike and visit low-key areas that are not frequented by crowds. However to reach the hidden gems, guests will be expected to do a more advanced hike. We will be walking over rocky and uneven surfaces (about 20 minutes each way). Parts of the hikes may have some incline and require balance. Then we will stop by the Yokahu Observation Tower where you will enjoy a 360 panoramic view of the reserve. Our last stop will be at a hidden natural-swimming-pool area (15-minute hike/walk each way). Prepare to hike/walk around 2 miles with Puerto Rico Tour Desk!
